artists of the renaissance

our discussion in history a while ago was VERY VERY interesting! we talked about leonardo da vinci and michaelangelo bounarotti... it was so amazing, their paintings and sculptures... i also found out information about their works... like da vinci's mona lisa:

*mona lisa is pregnant (i've heard of this before)
*not sure whether she's smiling or not
*expresses over a thousand feelings and emotions
*his painting also focused on the background, not just on mona lisa
*rumor: (i've heard of this before also) da vinci's gay because mona lisa is the girl version of da vinci

*mona lisa's eyes follow you wherever you look at it
*when you look at mona lisa's eyes through a magnifying glass (the original piece), you'll be able to see da vinci's face
*there really was a lisa --->model of the mona lisa painting

last supper
*da vinci did the first idea that jesus is long haired
*judas' and jesus' face is only one because da vinci was trying to find a face for judas in prison. when he found the face he was looking for, paid him to be his model... as time passed by, that person looked like the jesus in the painting and became a good person because his time was occupied by modeling instead for his vices
*has passed by several wars so it is adviced to preserve the painting but can't do because it was done on a wall

or michaelangelo's pieces:
sistine chapel (that's not the title of his work) hehe
*pope julius II asked him to do the ceiling... after finishing it, asked him to do the walls
note: in every wall, there were no repetition in terms of the design
*it wasn't hard for him to do it
*it made his vision poor because drops of paint which has many chemicals dropped into his eyes

revelation or the last judgement
*it has a silhouette of a crying face
*he did for 5-6 years
*had the hardest time making because it's only in a wall which is not spaceous for him
*the pope after pope julius II is conservative which means he does not appreciate his works and consider them offensive because it shows off naked bodies of angels... and so michaelangelo painted a version of that pope whipping persons in the dark side

da vinci:
*jolly
*doesn't follow or believe the concept of NEOPLATONIC (new mind) -->concentrates more on the mind over emotions
*went to de Medici garden but didn't stay
*universal man or the most versatile genius of the renaissance period
*has many occupation

michaelangelo
*moody
*stayed at the de Medici garden and was the star there
*get the ugliest materials because he doesn't want to mingle with people while getting the best materials but he's able to create the best work among the other artists
*believes and follows the concept of NEOPLATONIC
*technique: MANNERISM

*pieces are always in motion

...wala lang... just shared it to you...
now i'm more enlightened on what course i'd take in college hehe!! pero let's see, let's see hehe!!
